Mobility in Databases and Distributed Systems: Summing up Achievements of the Past Decade

چکیده
This special issue represents the best papers presented at the “Mobility in Databases and Distributed Systems” (MDDS’99) workshop held in September of 1999 in Florence, Italy. The year 1999 was a milestone in a sense that it marked the end of an era in mobile database management research where focus was on human interaction and on extending classical concepts of distributed databases and systems to cater for mobility. These selected papers reflect the state of the art in the issues of mobility in mobile data management and can serve as a summary of the achievements of the past decade; they also look ahead at forthcoming research challenges and opportunities. The MDDS workshop is an annual international workshop running in conjunction with DEXA (www.dexa.org) conference series. Its goals are expressed succinctly in the editors’ message for MDDS’99 (DEXA W/S Proceedings (CS Press, 1999) p. 72):

The Requirements for IR`s Efficiency with Regard to Republicanism in the Fifth Decade
Improving the effectiveness of the Islamic Republic of Iran is one of the key issues in the fifth decade. The two great achievements of the Islamic Republic, namely "its states of being republic and Islamic", have made it distinctive of the Pahlavi regime. During the past four decades, we have witnessed the great achievements of these two components, but in order to exploit these two capacities...
متن کاملHistorical Interruption and Continuity Attitude in Recent Changes in Architecture of Historical Iranian Fabrics
Review and continuation of the physical evidence can be pursued over a long period in Iranian architecture; however, the architecture of modernity occurred in persistence of Iranian architecture. The past architecture and discontinuity can be the factors deemed to avoid identity. Facing tradition against contemporary ideas is now a challenge in many primeval countries. Lack of intimacy and com...
متن کاملOptimization of majority protocol for controlling transactions concurrency in distributed databases by multi-agent systems
In this paper, we propose a new concurrency control algorithm based on multi-agent systems which is an extension of majority protocol. Then, we suggest a clustering approach to get better results in reliability, decreasing message passing and algorithm’s runtime. Here, we consider n different transactions working on non-conflict data items. Considering execution efficiency of some different...
متن کاملApplication of the Phenomenological Model to Electrophoretic Mobility in Mixed Solvent Electrolyte Systems in Capillary Zone Electrophoresis
The phenomenological model of Khossravi and Connors (1992) has been adopted to calculate the electrophoretic mobility of drugs at different concentrations of solvents in a binary mixture. The accuracy and predictability of the model have been evaluated employing 14 experimental data sets by using average percentage mean deviation (APMD). The obtained APMD for correlative and predictive studies ...
